weekend wrap-up

friday:
We try not to do anything on Friday nights if we can help it... We're usually just so exhausted from the week, and all we want to do is veg. Which is what we did :) We got dinner to-go and ate at home. Ryan took Molly duty, and I got to sleep a full night's sleep (or at least attempt to...I swear, my super-sonic mom hears can hear EVERYTHING now).

saturday:
Molly and I met up with the girls for brunch! It had been almost 2 months since the 4 of us had been together! It was so good to hang out on the patio and catch up. Molly loved seeing her aunties (wish I got Kristin in these pictures--I promise she was there)!

After brunch, I called Ryan because I knew he was out with his parents buying his dad's belated birthday present. Turns out, they were at the mall just 5 minutes away, so Molly and I met up with them. We got Dave's bday watch from Fossil and then walked around the mall for a while. Of course Molly loved seeing her grandparents again :)

They came over for a little bit so Ryan could help install a carseat into their car, and then they left and Ryan and I lounged on the couch and played with Molly the rest of the day. We were supposed to go to a Sunday School dinner & bowling night but it was raining outside, and we were so tired so we just stayed home. We're old now :)

sunday:
Ryan and I had to attend a Parent's Class since Molly is getting dedicated next Sunday. So we dropped Molly off at the nursery and attended the class. It was very informative, and I'm excited about next weekend but I'm TERRIFIED of being in front of thousands of people and on the big jumbo-trons (yes, we attend a very very very large church) with an unpredictable baby that could start crying or spit up all over her very pretty dress. It's just a lot for a "control freak" like me to handle :)

After church, we went to BuyBuy Baby and the mall to get some supplies for daycare and to shop for shoes and a bow for Molly's dedication outfit. She napped the whole time and looked so cute.

Then we went over to Mom & Steve's house to have lunch with Papa's side of the family. We had some yummy bar-b-cue and Molly was the center of attention of course!

After lunch, we went home so Molly could take a nap, and we just vegged on the couch with the pets and caught up on DVRed shows all afternoon. I took a nice nap while Ryan watched Molly, and it was such a treat.

That night, Molly and I watched tv in bed while Ryan played a video game, and Molly was so sweet. She just reached over and grabbed my hand. Melt my heart!

It was a really nice weekend!!! Hope you had a good one too!

hodgepodge

  • i have lost 50 pounds since having molly! i'm really happy with this, but i still have 20 pounds to lose in order to be at my pre-baby weight. yes, for those who are counting, i gained a whopping 70 pounds thanks to 30 pounds of massive swelling/water weight in my 3rd trimester. once i lose these 20 pounds, i'll still have 20 pounds to get back to pre-wedding weight! we'll see if that ever happens :) here's a good example of pre-wedding weight ME vs. now ME. i still have a ways to go!

  • with that said, i was able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans this weekend! they're still a little tight to wear to work, but they definitely fit, and i was able to zip and button them no problem!
  • ryan and i had a lovely date night for valentines day. he surprised me with a big box of chocolates, breaking dawn DVD, 3 cards (1 funny, 1 sweet and 1 twilight) and a beautiful arrangement of flowers delivered to my work! i gave him the annual jar of candy along with 4 cards (1 sweet, 2 funny and 1 from molly) and a big box of chocolates.

molly by the week (19)

Molly is 19 weeks old today!

Stats: At her rescheduled 4-month appointment, she weighed 13 pounds 14 ounces, putting her in the 60th percentile for weight. She was in the 65th percentile for height and 55th percentile for head. I'm glad she's chunking up a bit! Since she's always been 50th percentile for weight, it's nice to see her getting some meat on her bones in the 60th! :)

Milestones/Firsts: She rolled from her tummy to her back! Grandma and Grandpa, along with her uncle Peter & aunt Kae were at our house for lunch, and Grandpa just happened to be taking pictures of her when she decided to roll over for the first time! He caught it all on camera! So great! We all cheered for her, and then she did it again a few minutes later! So proud.

Another little "first" that I want to document: When Ryan and I picked her up from his parents' house after our Valentines date, she had just woken up from a nap, and when she saw me for the first time, she just lit up and then laughed! It was the cutest thing! It was her first "hey mommy laugh".

She also had her first Valentines Day! (See blog post & pics here).

Feeding: She's up to 6 ounces every 3-4 hours. We're working to get her to go 4 hours in between feedings, but she usually ends up wanting to eat at about 3.5. She still gets her bottle at night with a scoop of cereal, but on Monday night, I decided to try spoon-feeding cereal again. I had taken a break after it didn't go so well when she was a couple weeks younger, but this time she was definitely ready! She opened her mouth for the spoon every time and managed to get more in her tummy than on her face/bib (even though this pic shows otherwise). She doesn't look happy but I promise she was just fine right before this was taken! I think she got impatient in her new little booster seat :)

Behavior: She's still pretty happy, but not 100% back to her normal self because she's still battling a little congestion. She loves her rings, jumper and playing on her back on the blanket.

Sleep: Well.... She's been pretty inconsistent on sleep this past week. She's been waking up anywhere from 1-3 times in the middle of the night. On Monday night, she woke up every hour (!!!) but I think that was because of the shots she got earlier in the day. I've heard there's a thing called the "4-Month Wakeful Period" so maybe that's why she's waking up more than usual. Who knows. We're managing. The nighttime routine is pretty sweet though, and we have lots of fun together (with Daddy too) during her bath, bottle and rocking before bed :)

We're contemplating weaning her from the swaddle... She tries to break out in the middle of the night, so I'm thinking it's time, but the few times I've tried putting her down without it, she just flails about and can't get herself to sleep. We may try one-arm-out method and see how that works from there. We tried a sleep sac, and that did NOT work.

As for napping, we changed her schedule at daycare (to go 4 hours in between feedings), but it kind of screwed up the little cat nap she'd take when we first got home. Now, she gets fed right after we get home and then takes a cat nap around 7:30. The other night, I let her nap on me just because I wanted to :)

Clothes: She's fully outgrown her 3-month clothes, and she's fully able to wear 3-6 month stuff. Even some 6-month stuff is starting to fit. Still in size 2 diapers. Also, I'm putting hats on her any chance I can get. She's just so stinkin cute :)

Favorite Moments: Her first roll over and weekend morning chats in bed.

Most Challenging: She's still not 100%, and we're really tired from all the middle-of-the-night wakings. Ryan's sick again with something different including congestion and coughing (this is week 4 of sickness in our house for anyone who's counting), so it's just challenging when everyone's not at 100%. I'm ready to have a healthy household!

Just a cute pic of Molly at Grammy & Grandpa Steve's house on Sunday :)
Looking Forward To: Molly seeing her "aunties" at girls brunch this Saturday! It's been too long! And, we just generally look forward to weekends because we can finally relax from the week and be together.

Happy 19 weeks, Molly!
