On our little road trip last weekend, Ryan and I decided to plan a fun "just us" getaway this year. I think it's so important (especially now that we have Molly) to take some time alone, leave Molly with some grandparents for a few days, and go somewhere fun together. We haven't traveled anywhere since our "babymoon" to St. Thomas in April 2011, so we were excited to try something different this time! We threw around some ideas of places we'd never been like San Francisco, a road trip through New England (Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts), Myrtle Beach and Seattle.
And tonight, after Ryan got home from work, we talked for a few minutes and decided to spend 5 days in Seattle this fall! Within an hour, I had booked our hotel and flights! I am SO excited to get out of town after the (sure to be) crazy hot Texas summer and see someplace new (and possibly chilly)!
For me, planning the trip is just as fun as the trip itself, so I'm already having a blast making all the arrangements and researching fun things to do! We'll definitely go to the Space Needle, original Starbucks, and we're staying at a hotel in Pike Place Market, so we'll be in the heart of Seattle! I definitely want to see some beautiful countryside and go on a ferry ride as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing all the houseboats and pretending I'm hanging out with Tom Hanks, but I'm pretty sure Ryan won't think that's a blast.
I also wouldn't mind driving the 3.5 hours over to this little gem of a town, but again, thinking Ryan won't even budge on that one.
Seriously though, if anyone has any other fun ideas of things to do in Seattle, I'd love to hear your recommendations!!! I'm SOOOO excited! I love trips!

We're big on trying hometown burger joints wherever we go--Cups in Waco, Kellers in Dallas, etc.--and my grad school friend from Seattle, who knows about our burger love, had me write down Red Mill burgers in Seattle. I can't personally recommend it, but it sounds like it's a local favorite. Have a great trip!
If you're interested in seeing the house boats, you should go on one of the boat tours. They aren't too long, have great tour guides, and one of them takes you by the Sleepless in Seattle house. We took two of the tours and enjoyed them both!
We should totally meet for lunch while you are here! There are so many delicious places to eat in Seattle and so many seafood options! The Duck tours are pretty cool, they are land/ water tours. The new Big Wheel on the waterfront is a great photo opp! Hmmm most of things I can think of now are kid outings so I will keep thinking! :)
I live about 1 1/2 North in Bellingham, I try to stay out of Seattle, haha, way too busy for me. You should check out Lake Washington, and head East a little to Snoqualmie Pass, there are some really cute towns and lots of snow. You will also be staying really close to the waterfront, you should go a couple blocks down to Pier 54.
If it is raining (more than likely) and you want to see some inside stuff, the Pacific Science center and the Experience Music Project Museum is supposed to be awesome. Both of those are right under the Space Needle along with the Ride the Duck tour. Dicks burgers is also another Seattle favorite for food.
Haha ok that was a lot of infp for someone who doesn't go there, huh. Let me know if you have any questions about any of those.
So I just realized that I have probably never commented on your blog. Haha opps anyway I have been following since we were both pregnant.
Always up for a good burger! Thanks!
I think we'll definitely do a boat tour now!!
Thanks!
I'm so jealous of your trip! I've wanted to go to Seattle forever! I can't wait to hear all about you trip. :)
